Yael and Or are one of those couples we have so much to say about, it’s hard to know where to begin.

For starters, they were boyfriend-girlfriend in the fourth and fifth grades when they lived in Israel, drifted apart in their late teens, but then reconnected when they both ended up in the Bay Area. They have been back together for several years, and will get married this July in Israel. We have photographed countless Jewish weddings, but never one in Israel. Yael and Or will also be bringing the brilliant Vlad of Vlad Films to make their wedding film.

What will make the trip even more special is that Yael and Or are also very good friends of ours. We hang out together in San Francisco, spent the past New Year’s Eve together, and Yael came to Mexico for our wedding last fall. We’ve known Yael for so long because her family’s company, Digilabs Pro, has been our online gallery host since the beginning of Ben Chrisman Photography.

And as a side note for photographers, these photos were taken during one of our private photography workshops. If you’re interested, you can send us a note in the contact form.

We asked Kelly and Traviss to come over to our house recently as a favor. We’re shooting their wedding tomorrow in Sacramento, but needed a fun couple to photograph for a private workshop we had with two photographers. We spent a couple hours around the house, and then went hiking on a nearby trail to an old abandoned Forest Service building that we love to shoot in. Kelly and Traviss were great sports, even as Erin and I tried to teach and shoot at the same time. We’re really looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow.

Jessica and Robby have been married a couple of years and wanted some anniversary photos while on vacation in San Francisco. Robby is a terrific photographer in Mississippi (you can see his photos here), and this was his and Jessica’s first time visiting San Francisco. So after exploring the Dogpatch and Mission neighborhoods, we took them to one of our favorite restaurants, Foreign Cinema, where they had their first oysters, along with a couple chocolate martinis. We had a great time, and hopefully we’ll get to see them again when we photograph a wedding in Mississippi later this year. And thank you guys for sending us Kelly Moore’s great new camera bags! We look forward to testing them out at our next wedding this weekend.

Alicia and Scot live in New York but are getting married this fall in Miami. The two recently braved an especially frigid, windy Manhattan day for their engagement pictures. We started off inside the bar where they met, then wandered around the streets of the meat-packing district, and finished the day in Central Park. We always love shooting in New York, but we’re especially excited for their wedding in South Beach, one of the most beautiful and lively places in the United States.

I love the romance and the light in the first photo. The strollers in the last photo really make this picture work, it's more like a street photograph than a posed portrait. Like Ben was just out shooting the streets and happened upon this couple about to make out as the bustling world passes them by.
