(words by Erin)

Ben and I are so excited to announce our participation in the 2012 Canada Photo Convention, taking place outside Vancouver April 23-25. This convention will be our last speaking or workshop engagement for the year. See below for all the information you’ll need to join us in April!

We have been friends with the convention’s organizer, Jasser Abu-Giemi, for the past three years, and are really looking forward to what we hope is his first of many wedding photography conventions in Canada. The lineup includes some of our closest friends and photographers whom we greatly admire and constantly look to for inspiration and education – including DQ Studios, Apertura, Jenna and Tristan, JVSDavina Plus DanielKirsten Lewis and Tey and Jan Garcia. The convention is small this year, so you’ll have a chance to mingle with some of the best photographers in the industry, during the mixer on April 23, and over the course of two days of presentations April 24 and 25. We hope to see you there!

Helen and Walter | 02.20.2012

20 Pictures / 20 Comments

The first time we met Helen and Walter, we were in our pajamas, standing in our foyer with bright-red faces and pounding hearts.

For the first time ever in our lives as photographers, we had overslept and completely forgotten about the meeting we had scheduled with them. As we tucked our tails and excused ourselves to change into real clothes, Helen and Walter just smiled sweetly and tried to laugh it off. This is just how they are – extremely gracious, accepting, and just plain nice. It’s an attitude they demonstrated throughout their entire wedding day. They never seemed stressed out, or anxious, or nervous. They just seemed happy to be there, and happy to be with one another.

Helen and Walter’s wedding was our first full wedding at the stunningly beautiful San Francisco City Hall. The vast, open interior, with its soaring high ceilings and neoclassical architecture, is like a giant playground for photographers. And Helen and Walter brought in the perfect blend of colorful lighting that gave this very serious building a dynamic, nightclub-like atmosphere for the reception.

After their wedding, they embarked on an around-the-world honeymoon where they engaged in their favorite joint pastime: eating. We had a blast following their adventures on Facebook. And of course we were extremely jealous the entire time.

Helen and Walter, thank you for allowing us into your lives, and thank you for your kindness and generosity. You’re truly an inspiration to us!

Camille and David | 02.13.2012

From the moment we first talked with Camille on the phone and heard her thick, dipped-in-sugar Southern accent, we couldn’t wait to spend the weekend with her and David and their families in Sea Island. As we’ve said many times on this blog, we have a special place in our hearts for Southern weddings.

Camille works in the music industry in Nashville and has always had a love of music and singing. She has an infectious personality that draws people to her like magnets. David is soft-spoken and kind, and the perfect gentleman.

The weekend consisted of a casual welcome party, formal rehearsal dinner, and was rounded out with the wedding day at The Cloister, a beautiful, pristine resort at which we’ve always longed to shoot.

We hope to get back to Georgia for many more weddings, but in the meantime, we’ll just keep looking back at Camille and David’s photos and remembering how much fun we had with this beautiful, dynamic couple.
